Cruise To Oslo

Good Morning! How is everyone doing today?

I am so excited to share my recap from out trip to Norway with you today! I took a lot of pictures so sorry if this post is overloaded with them. Is anyone else the same way when they go to a new place? It’s like I can’t just take one picture of this building, I have to get a picture from at least 3 different angles. No? It’s just me, ok then.

Anyways, enough chit chat, let’s get into it!

Our trip started on Friday when we arrived at the Colour Line terminal shortly after 11. After checking in, we found out we couldn’t actually board the cruise until 1:15! We decided to kick the trip off with snacks, coffee for the boyfriend, and green tea for me. Once it was time to board, we put our things in our room then headed to the deck while we left the harbour. IMG_2610It was really pretty to see everything along the water. I had been in Kiel with Matthias’ mom before, but it was really cool to see the different buildings from a new perspective.IMG_2613IMG_2617IMG_2618After about an hour, we headed back inside to have a look around the cruise ship. Color Line offers a 2-day cruise or ferry option and 4 different crossings. Our cruise was from Kiel-Oslo and back. The boat offered a few different restaurants, a tax-free store, a spa, a small fitness center, and other amenities. They also offer a show each night at two different times. Matthias and I went to both shows that were put on and they were both really good! We weren’t sure what they would be like, but they were great. They did songs that I knew and some that I didn’t know, but the costumes, dances, and singing was all on point. IMG_2627Before going to the show the first night, we took a walk back to deck and braved the winds. We couldn’t actually see anything because it was foggy which was kind of creepy, like something out of a horror movie, but we got a cute picture out of the trip outside.IMG_2622The next morning, I woke up at 6:30 so I could get a workout in before heading to breakfast. It was nice having cardio and weight machines to use. After the gym and breakfast, we headed outside and looked around. Again, it was really foggy, but we were able to see some buildings and land.IMG_2629 IMG_2632 IMG_2633We arrived in Oslo around 9:30 and set off. I had picked a few places I wanted to see, wrote down directions and off we went on foot. IMG_2638 IMG_2639 IMG_2641 IMG_2642The first stop on my list was the Royal Palace. After 15-20 minutes of walking we made it there.IMG_2644 IMG_2646 IMG_2661 IMG_2662From here, we headed towards the Opera House. I loved all of the old buildings in Oslo. Even the streets were really cool. Anyways, the following pictures are from the walk towards the Opera. I couldn’t tell you what some of these buildings are, but they were so pretty.IMG_2667 IMG_2668 IMG_2671 IMG_2672 IMG_2676 IMG_2678 IMG_2679 IMG_2680Before we made it down to the Opera House, we came across a hotel by the Central Station that had these cool butterfly things in the ground. There was also two sculptures that I though were pretty cool.IMG_2685 IMG_2684 IMG_2688A short walk later, we made it there. IMG_2690You’re able to walk on the roof and at the top there is a great view!IMG_2699 IMG_2701 IMG_2704 From here, we headed for the boat. My written directions weren’t that great, but luckily Oslo is very tourist friendly. We followed the map from these giant orange things (there’s probably a name for them) and had no problem finding our way back. IMG_2746We even came across a fortress!IMG_2723 IMG_2727We saw the Nobel Peace Museum too!IMG_2742When we got back to the boat, we took our books up to the Observation Restaurant, ordered some coffee, and spent a couple hours waiting to leave the harbor. This was the view from where we were sitting.IMG_2752 IMG_2753Exploring Oslo was so much fun and I am so happy I was able to experience it with Matthias. IMG_2714Have a great day!
