Good Morning Friends! How is everyone doing? I hope you had a great weekend and an awesome start to the week yesterday!
I’d like to apologize for the disappearance on the blog at the end of last week. I didn’t intend for it to happen, but I had writer’s block and couldn’t come up with anything to say. Luckily, I spent Saturday morning meal prepping for a few days and thought I should share some of my tips I’ve learned over the past couple of years! I am by no means an expert at meal prepping, but I do have 10 tips that might help you out!
Meal Prep 101: 7 Tips to HelpPlan
Before I go grocery shopping, I like to plan out what I’m going to make. Depending on my work schedule I may prep up to 5 days of meals, whereas sometimes, it may just be for 2 or 3 days. It’s also important to decide what meals you’re going to prep. Do you just need to do lunch or breakfast? Maybe you want to prep some dinner items to speed up the cooking process on the day of?
Frozen or Steam In Bag Veggies
These save me so much time! I’ll stock up when these on sale and use them daily. I usually don’t even cook them if I’m prepping for a few days since they’ll thaw out once they’re in their containers in the fridge. When you heat up your meal, they’ll cook in the time it takes for the rest of the food.
Invest in good quality containers! You don’t want to be throwing them out after a few uses. I like getting ones that stack nicely and look the same. I have two different sets that I’ve been using that include the ones pictured below.I’ve been lusting over these ones that come with 1, 2 or 3 compartments from Amazon, but don’t see the point in purchasing more when the ones I was given do just fine. Glass pyrex containers are also a good choice and last forever!
I find that I’m much more likely to use my fruits and veggies if I take the time to slice them all at the same time. I’ve thrown out peppers or cucumbers because I was too lazy to cut them and they went bad. Having cut veggies in my fridge also cuts down on grabbing something that isn’t as good for me just because it’s easier!Don’t Over Do It
You don’t have to make everything ahead of time. If I spend more than 3 hours meal prepping, I go crazy! I like to make things that are going to save on time. I don’t mind making my breakfasts every morning, but things like chicken I’ll cook all at once.
Prepare Before Dividing
I like to divide my food into single serving containers instead of just having it all in one. Before I put it into the containers, I’ll gather everything I need so I don’t need to go looking for something mid-way through my process. I like to put it into big bowls or containers, but you could also just leave it in whatever you cooked it in.Keep It Interesting
I like to try at least one new thing every week or every other week. This week I tried purple sweet potatoes (not as good as orange sweet potatoes in my opinion) and Monique’s Healthy Pumpkin Zucchini Chocolate Chip Bread. This bread is one of my favourites now! It’s so good! Those are my 7 meal prepping tips!
Have a great day!
Do you have any tips?
Do you meal prep?
Hey hey there! I’m sorry to be coming to you later than usual, I am still jetlagged from my trip home. I hope you’ve had a great weekend!
I’m going to be sharing the last week of meals from when I was in Germany. I’m unsure if I’ll continue to do these posts as I tend to eat the same thing when I’m on my own. Let me know what you think I should do!
Now let’s get to the food!
Weekly Meal Plan: Week of 11/29-12/7
Sunday: Matthias had been wanting to try making his own chicken marinade for a couple weeks so we decided to do it on Sunday. We had leftover garlic fingers too! Kind of a weird combo, but it was pretty tasty!Monday: I had wanted to make supper for Matthias’ parents as a way to say thank you for everything. I decided to make lasagna with garlic bread and a salad!Tuesday/Wednesday: We had a lot of leftover lasagna left so we just heated some up for a quick supper!
Thursday: Whenever I fly (I say that like I do it a lot, but I don’t at all), my appetite gets messed up. Once I made it to New York, I was craving fruit and something cold after sitting on a plane for 9 hours. I decided on my first Jamba Juice! Later on, I picked up a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese, but it wasn’t that great. It was really dry and tough to chew.Friday: Again, my appetite was still kind of non-existent, but I had two eggs with two pieces of white bread from a local restaurant that we used to go to all the time growing up.Saturday: I was staying at my mom’s on Saturday night and was craving some fast food I hadn’t had in awhile so we settled on DQ! I had the $6 Cheeseburger Meal Deal, but I upgraded the sundae to a Candy Cane Oreo Blizzard. The fast food didn’t end up making me feel too great unfortunately. I guess my body isn’t used to it anymore. Nonetheless, the blizzard put me in a Christmasy mood! And those were my meals this past week! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday! I’ll talk to you tomorrow!
What’s your appetite like when you’re travelling?
Have you ever cooked for a significant other’s parents?
Good Afternoon! How is your weekend going?
I’m popping in quickly to share our meals from the week! Let’s get to it
Weekly Meal Plan: Week of 11/22-11/28
Sunday: We were away last Sunday and went to a restaurant for supper. I had a Hawaiian pizza that was pretty tasty. I didn’t snap a picture, but I’m sure you’ve all seen what a Hawaiian pizza looks like.
Monday: Funny story about Monday night. We made a ham and cheese pasta casserole, but I just couldn’t stomach it. I think I ended up just having cereal. The last time we made the casserole I thought it was good, but for whatever reason I couldn’t eat it this time.Tuesday: Matthias had leftover casserole while I ate chicken, broccoli, and sweet potato. I love simple meals like this!Wednesday: I had leftover chicken and sweet potatoes. I ate it right out of my tupperware haha.Thursday: I was loving the simple meals this week! I had chicken again on Thursday with broccoli. Friday: We went to a Christmas Market on Friday around suppertime, but I wasn’t hungry. I only ended up eating around 9 when I had some cereal. Side note: this is what Special K looks like in Germany, I was so surprise when I saw it!Saturday: Last night we decided to make homemade pizzas and watch Star Wars. We’ve been watching them since I hadn’t seen them before. We only have one more left to watch! I’m surprised by how much I enjoy them. Anyways, we made garlic fingers and then individual pizzas. I had ham, pineapple, red pepper, bacon, and cheese on mine! Those were our meals from the week! I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend! I’ll be back tomorrow with a little recap of my weekend!
Do you ever get tired of eating the same thing every night? I personally don’t, as you can tell by the three nights I had chicken this week.
Have you ever made something and then couldn’t eat it? The casserole this week is I think the only time I’ve had this happen.
Good Morning! How is your weekend going?
Matthias and I have been enjoying a nice little weekend away, but I wanted to pop in quickly to share what we ate this past week.
Weekly Meal Plan: Week of 11/15-11/21
Sunday: after having such a big lunch with Matthias and his family, I wasn’t really hungry for supper. When I did get hungry in the evening, I ended up having some cereal and a rice cake with cream cheese and ham.Monday: Matthias was away Monday evening so I kept it simple with turkey breast and veggies.Tuesday: again I kept things pretty simple with some leftover turkey breast and broccoli.Wednesday: Matthias and I made quesadillas! These came together super fast and were equally tasty. They have salsa, red pepper, chicken, and cheese in them. We dipped them in more salsa, greek yogurt, and guac!Thursday: I wanted to use up the last tortilla so I made another quesadilla.
Friday/Saturday: we were away, but Friday I ordered a Hawaiian pizza at the Italian restaurant we went to and Saturday we just got Subway.
Those were our meals from this past week! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I’ll be back later tomorrow with a little recap post from this weekend!
What do you get on your sub at Subway?
What do you like to dip your quesadilla in?
Good Morning! How has your weekend been?
My weekend has been a mix of busy and relaxing so I’ve enjoyed that! We’re heading for lunch with Matthias’ family soon, but I wanted to pop in to share what we ate this past week!
Weekly Meal Plan: Week of 11/8-11/14
Sunday: this was our last night in Sweden and we just wanted something chill so we ate at the restaurant in our hotel. We both got pizza and a beer. I had ham on mine while Matthias had a chicken pizza. Monday: after travelling home and getting groceries, we both wanted something easy for supper. We ended up having ribs with veggies!Tuesday: since I was on my own for supper on Tuesday, I just made chicken and sweet potato coins! Another easy, yet delicious meal. Wednesday: again, we wanted some easy. We made pesto salmon and I had some cucumber and tomatoes on the side so we had some kind of vegetable. There were more, but I ate most of them before the salmon was ready. Thursday: we had been wanting to make lasagna again for awhile so we finally did on Thursday! The best part about making a big lasagna for two people is leftovers!Friday/Saturday: lasagna leftovers!
As you can see, all of our meals this week were extremely easy. The hardest one was the lasagna and it only takes an extra twenty minutes of prep work plus cooking time.
The plan for this week is easy again! We’ll be leaving for another trip on Thursday so there isn’t too many meals we’ll have to prepare.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
What is your favourite easy supper?
Ribs or steak?
Good Morning! How has your weekend been?
I’m currently in Sweden, but I wanted to share with you what we ate this past week. I’m writing this before leaving on our trip so I won’t have Friday or Saturday’s suppers included, much like last week when we were on the cruise. I hope I’m able to give some ideas for your own meals!
Weekly Meal Plan: Week of 11/1-11/7
Sunday: Matthias and I had a late lunch and snacked on candy all afternoon so we weren’t really hungry for supper on Sunday. I ended up having a pb&j and it was delicious.
Monday: ribs and spaghetti squash! These were so good and really easy since the ribs were precooked. I only had to put them in the oven for 20 minutes!Tuesday: we had spaghetti on Tuesday! Mine was with spaghetti squash and Matthias had his with actual spaghetti! For the sauce, I cooked ground beef then added red pepper and tomato sauce to it. It would have been nice if it was saucier, but we didn’t have that much tomato sauce left. We had it with garlic bread on the side!Wednesday: a big chicken salad! Fun fact, I have a whole mini romaine lettuce head in my salad. There’s also tomatoes, cucumber, chicken, and honey mustard dressing!Thursday: pizza! Matthias had a frozen pizza and I used our last dough ball and made a Hawaiian one! There was ham, pineapple, red pepper, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce that I made by cooking tomatoes on the stove then mashing.Friday and Saturday: away in Sweden
Enjoy your Sunday! I have a pre-planned post for tomorrow, but will be back on Tuesday with a recap of our time in Stockholm!
What’s your favourite kind of squash?
What is your go to salad?

I’m currently on my way home from Oslo when this post goes up. I’ll be sharing how the trip was and what we did tomorrow so be sure to come back if you’re interested in reading that!
Since it’s Sunday, it’s time to share what Matthias and I made this week! Let’s get to the food!
Weekly Meal Plan: Week of 10/25-10/31
Sunday: we kept things pretty quick and simple on Sunday since there was a hockey game on. Matthias made a chicken salad and I had chicken with butternut squash and some frozen veggiesMonday: I had a big plate of blueberry pancakes with bacon on the side. All topped with Canadian maple syrup of course!Tuesday: if you read my latest WIAW, my supper from Tuesday was included in it. We made spaghetti carbonara!Wednesday: Matthias’ mom picked us up a couple things to try so we tested out the pulled pork on Wednesday. We had it on top of some rolls and I mixed some in with spaghetti squash! It was really tasty! I only wish we would had some coleslaw to put on top of the pork.Thursday: since we were leaving on Friday, we wanted to keep things pretty simple on Thursday night. I decided to make some homemade chicken nuggets and fries! Friday: cruise buffet
Saturday: cruise buffet
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and look forward to a recap coming tomorrow from our cruise to Oslo!
