Good Morning! How is your day going so far?

It’s time for another Thinking out Loud Thursday! Amanda created this weekly link up as a place to talk about anything and everything! Thinking-Out-Loud

Earlier this week (or maybe on the weekend), Netflix announced release dates for some returning shows and new shows!

I’m most excited for the return of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Grace and Frankie! I watched the first season of both of these shows in like 2-3 days! They are a really easy watch and pretty funny! I still have to wait until April and May for these shows, but I’m happy that there’s going to be a second season for both of them."Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" season two (April 15)"Grace and Frankie" season two (May 6)The most exciting and the show that I have been waiting for since they first announced they were doing is FULLER HOUSE! There’s only a little over a month until I can finally get my fix! I’ve been stalking looking at the cast’s instagrams and it makes me even more excited!

And on to my other topic for today’s post… working out. My lifting has been pretty great at my new gym which I’m a fan of. What isn’t going so well, incorporating more cardio or HIIT circuits.

I think besides my 5-10 minute warm up before I lift, I’ve done cardio at most 2 times since 2016 started 🙈🙈 I don’t know why I find it so tough to do, but I’m going to work at it over the next couple of weeks. I’ll let you know how that works out.

Good Morning! I can’t believe it’s already Thursday, this week has just been flying by!

I’ve been wanting to do a survey for awhile now and I’ve been seeing a lot of the Currently one being done. I know I’ve done this at least once during my blogging, but I think that was a few years ago. I thought it would be a good way to update you. I may start doing it seasonally or every few months.

Current Book: I’m actually not reading anything right now. I’d love to hear some suggestions though!

Current Music: I’ve been loving Sam Hunt’s song Break Up In A Small Town! It’s great during my workout when the chorus drops, it really gets me in the zone. I’ve also been playing Rachel Platten’s Wildfire album a lot!Current TV Show: Since I’ve been working in the evenings lately, I’ve been watching a lot of talk shows. I’m talking about Live With Kelly and Michael, Rachael Ray, The View, and Ellen! I don’t know why, but I just absolutely love them!

Current Movie: I haven’t watched a movie in the longest time, but I do really want to see the new Star Wars movie (I know it came out awhile ago so it isn’t exactly new anymore)

Current iPhone Wallpaper: This picture of Matthias and I when we were in Hamburg one day! It’s one of my favourite pictures of us.12511521_10157083134965377_1277514339_nCurrent Drink: I finished a mug of green tea a little while ago so I’ve just been drinking water since then.

Current Food: I’ve been loving my Laughing Cow cheese wedges. I’ve only tried the Light Swiss ones, but I want to try the other ones! 12540325_10157081032495377_1723667510_nCurrent Obsession: All things sugary! I don’t know why, but I’ve been eating all the sweets since being at my mom’s. I’m starting to cut back because I don’t feel the best when I eat a bunch of it.

Current Wish: That I could be spending time with the boyfriend! I really miss him and I wish we could be together on the same continent, in the same time zone, in the same city. Long distance is tough!IMG_2714Current Need: Sleep! As soon as I’m done this post, I’m passing out for the night!

Current Procrastination: Finding a re-certification for my first aid. I need to re-cert every year before I renew my personal training certification and I keep putting it off! I’ve found a few courses, but I haven’t signed up for one yet.

Current Blessing: I feel blessed to be able to live at my mom’s. It’s nice coming home from work and being able to heat up food to eat that I didn’t have to make myself. I am also blessed in that I’m able to save some money since I’m not having to pay rent or spend that much on groceries!

Current Excitement: I’ve been thinking about my quad workout for tomorrow and am very excited about it! I’m going to add some plyo bursts to get my heart rate up! I’m excited now, but I know in the middle of my workout I’ll be hating myself!

Current Mood: Tired! I’ve had a long day and am ready for bed.downloadCurrent Bane of my Existence: I can’t seem to think of anything besides repaying my student loans 😶 Why is school so dang expensive!?

Current Link: I found this article on Buzzfeed yesterday and had a good chuckle at some of the points. It’s 21 Pictures That Prove Canada Is Not A Real Country! I have some other Canada related Buzzfeed articles that I’m thinking about sharing in tomorrow’s post.

That Time Of The Year

Hi Folks! Have you been having a good week?

I can’t believe it’s the last day of 2015! Like most people, around this time of the year I start to reflect on the year, what I’ve accomplished, what I’ve learned, and what I hope to do in the next year.

In today’s post, I’m going to talk about some of my goals for 2016 and take a look back at my goals from beginning of 2015. Since my thoughts are going to be all over the place, I thought I would link up with Amanda for the last TOLT of 2015!Thinking-Out-Loud

Last January, I made three goals for myself:

  1. Stop procrastinating with school work and finish my degree on Dean’s List. Well I did well with half of that goal haha. I still procrastinated a lot, but I did graduate on Dean’s List! It only took me 4 years to be on it, but I was very proud with my Dean’s List accomplishment!
  2. Go to the gym more. I had wanted to start going to the gym in January at least 3 times a week and just overall be more consistent with going. For most weeks, I was consistent and went, but once school started getting busy, it got cast to the side a little bit. Once I was home for the summer, I really got into a good routine that I’ve started up again since being home from Germany.
  3. Worry less. I’ve always been a worrier and this has actually gotten worse in the last few months of the year

Over the last half of the year, I also started making goals monthly or weekly since having one big one was a little daunting. This is something I want to continue into this year too! I think it’s important to either end your day with your goals and things you have to do the next day or to start the day by doing it. I found my most productive days were the days I did that.

I’d also like to share my goals to start the year with.These are overall ones I would like to accomplish for the year. I still plan to do monthly, weekly, or daily goals, but I like having bigger ones for the year too!

  1. Blogging: In 2016, I want to take blogging more seriously. I’ve found over the past few months that I’ve really loved doing it and being consistent with it. I’d like to come up with a schedule for posts and plan them out better. I’m also thinking about hosting with Bluehost.
  2. Gym:  I know, I know, everyone says working out more, but I have more specific goals this year. I’ve always hated cardio, but I enjoy how I feel after I’m done with it. I would like to start implementing more circuits or sprints to really get my heart rate up and to strengthen my heart. When I lift, my heart rate does go up, but I want to improve my cardiovascular health in 2016. I also want to work on my squats and deadlifts as well as having a plan when I go to the gym. Lately, I’ve been writing my workout out while I’m at the gym. I want to be better at having a plan before I walk into the gym!
  3. Anxiety: I’ve mentioned this in a few blog posts, but late in 2015, I’ve started experiencing anxiety for the first time. I would like to get help for this because I don’t want to live with the weight of it on me. If I can learn coping strategies and work to not have anxiety, I know I will enjoy things in my life a lot more!
  4. Food Choices: This past month I have been choosing convenience when it comes to my food choices. In 2016, I want to work on getting my micronutrients in more. I did pretty well in the summer when I was meal prepping for work, but haven’t really been doing that since work ended in September.

Those are my 4 big goals for 2016! Like I mentioned, I do think it’s beneficial to have smaller goals for the day, week or month, but having bigger goals for the whole year to work on are good too.

Good Morning! Happy Christmas Eve!

This week sure has flown by. I’m hoping the next few days go a little slower. Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year because I get to spend time with my loved ones. I don’t get to see some of them very often so I am very grateful that we all get to be together for a little while anyways.

I wanted to pop in today to do a little thinking out loud in the form of a Christmas survey! I love doing these and given the time of the year, I couldn’t think of a better one to do. Thanks for the link up Amanda!Thinking-Out-Loud2

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? How about white peppermint hot chocolate haha. I like sweet things so I’m leaning more towards hot chocolate, but I’m also a fan of egg nog.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Growing up, they were unwrapped. I have no idea what I’ll do when I have a family of my own.

3. Coloured lights on tree/house or white? I like the look of white lights on a tree and on the house. I like that you can add colour with the ornaments and other decorations!

4. Do you hang mistletoe? Nope, never have growing up.

5. When do you hang your decorations up? I don’t do any decorating myself yet and I can’t remember from when I was younger. I have a feeling I’m going to be one of those people that does it early though.

6. What is your favourite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Turkey with cranberry sauce (the homemade stuff, not that gross canned jelly one!) I love having it as leftovers in sandwiches too!

7. Favourite holiday memory as a child? When we were younger we used to get up at a ridiculous hour on Christmas morning because we were so excited. One Christmas, my sister woke my mom around 4 in the morning and she told my sister to go back to bed for another hour. My mom then went to the bathroom and while she was gone, my sister set the clock in my parent’s room ahead before going back to her room. A few minutes later, my sister runs back to my parent’s room saying it’s been another hour. My mom sees the time on the clock so we all get up. It wasn’t until we had finished opening presents that she realized what my sister had done!

8. What is on your Christmas wishlist? Honestly, the only I need is money to pay bills and my student loans back. I don’t really have anything on my wishlist except that.

9. Do you open gifts on Christmas Eve? As a kid, we were always allowed to open one gift on Christmas Eve. Usually, we would pick my Aunt Pat’s because she always gave us new Barbies.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? I actually haven’t decorated a tree in a few years, but my dad’s tree has white lights with silver garland and silver, blue, and white ornaments.

11. Snow? Love it or dread it? I love it to an extent. After the winter we had last year, I’m hoping we don’t get as much snow. I love it so I can go skiing, but I’m not a fan of when it gets messy out.

12. Real tree or fake tree? We’ve always had fake trees, but when I have a place of my own and a tree, I’ll be getting a real one!

13. Do you remember your favourite gift? This is going to be lame, but for the past few years, my mom has been getting my things for the kitchen so when I move out, I’ll have most of the stuff already. So far, I have silverware, pots/pans, knife block, blender, and a few other little things!

14. What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you? Hands down getting to see my family and spending time with them. Also, the food is pretty important too haha.

15. What is your favourite holiday dessert? Pumpkin Pie!

16. What is your favourite tradition? My aunt and uncle always do a brunch/lunch on Boxing Day and it’s one of my favourite traditions. I get to see my cousins and we always laugh a lot. It’s a fun afternoon and I look forward to it every year.

17. What tops your tree? We had an angel growing up.

18. Which do you prefer, giving or receiving? I’m not that great at coming up with gifts for people, but I love the look on their face when they open it so I would say giving.

19. What is your favourite Christmas song? Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) – Michael Bublé! Actually anything off his Christmas album!

20. Candy canes, yuck or yum? Yum!

21. Favourite Christmas movie? How am I suppose to choose? I really like The Holiday, Miracle on 34th Street, and the claymation Rudolph movie with the elf that wants to be a dentist!

22. What do you leave for Santa? Growing up, we left him cookies, milk, carrots for his reindeer, and a note.

23. Do you have a Christmas morning tradition? Not really anymore, but when I was younger, we used to wake up, make breakfast, and then open our stockings while eating.

24. Do you prefer to shop online or at the mall? It depends what I’m buying, but usually the mall. I don’t really buy that much online.

25. Christmas letter or Christmas card? I don’t think we’ve ever done anything with pictures, but I know my mom always sent Christmas cards out. I really like the idea of doing a Christmas card picture every year, maybe when I have a family of my own I’ll do that.

Good Morning! How has this week been treating you?

I’ve never really been that good at intros so let’s just jump right into today’s post!
Thinking-Out-Loud

  1. When this post goes up I’ll be in the process of flying home! I’ve been feeling all kinds of emotions leading up to this so here’s hoping I don’t burst into tears at some point during the day.
  2. 25 Facts About 2015 That Will Make You Feel Old AF I found this article on Buzzfeed earlier in the week and definitely felt very old!
  3. I’m looking forward to getting back into the gym when I’m home. I was extremely lucky to have some equipment to work with while in Germany that Matthias has, but I’m really looking forward to being in the atmosphere of a gym. I feel more motivated and I’ll have more equipment to work with!
  4.  I tried making Caramel Almond Fudge yesterday, but it didn’t really turn out. Matthias’ mom found the recipe and gave it to me to give it a try. This is what the picture on the recipe looks like12319722_10156940399825377_1950110517_n
    And this is how mine turned out…12325046_10156940399840377_1302817671_nAs you can see, not quite the same 🙈🙊. I don’t know if the recipe was wrong or what, but it was suppose to make 25 pieces; however, mine is more like a flat caramel thing. It still tastes very good, but not quite how I envisioned it would turn out.
  5. I’m really going to miss being able to be around Matthias everyday. It’s tough to get used to the distance, then become used to being around each other again, to being apart again. I know it gets a little easier with time, but the first month or so isn’t very fun!

Good Morning! How is everyone doing today?

I wrote my third TOLT post last week and now I think I may post them every week! It’s nice to have a place to write anything and everything that’s on your mind without it having to make any sense! A big thank you to Amanda for giving us a place to do this!Thinking-Out-Loud

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to any US readers! Since I celebrate this day in October, I use this day to preview the deals that are about to start in stores and online. I hope everyone has a great day spending time with people that are close to you.
  2. I worked out today for the first time in about a month. Yes, you read that right, it’s been at least a month since I’ve picked up a weight. I didn’t intend to take that long of a break, but I think it was needed. When I did an arm workout this morning, I had a drive back that I hadn’t felt in a long time! I’m looking forward to getting a few more in before I head back to Canada.
  3. Speaking of Canada, a week from now I’ll be on my way home. I have so many different feelings about it – sadness, anxiousness, happiness, nervousness. It’s a lot to feel all at one time. I’m looking forward to seeing my friends and family, but it really sucks because I’m saying goodbye to my best friend. The reality is that we won’t see each other for at least 6 months and I hate it! I have faith that it’ll work out, but it’s still tough to go from seeing each other everyday to only being able to communicate through texts and facetime/skype.IMG_2714
  4. I think I’m going to make cookies today. At least I want to. I have some things I’m trying to use up before I leave. I’ll be throwing some things in a bowl and hoping for the best. That’s how my recipes come together so we’ll see if I get a new one out of it! I’ll be sure to share it if I do!
  5. When I came to Germany, my luggage was overweight and I had to pay twice for it. I’m really hoping that doesn’t happen this time. Realistically, I could just send some of my stuff if it is overweight, but I like having all of my stuff with me, ya know? I didn’t accumulate that much stuff since being here so I’m going to try my best to have it underweight!

Hi everyone!

I don’t always post a TOLT, but I’m feeling a bit scatterbrained. Thanks Amanda for giving me an outlet to when I feel this way. It feels nice to spew what’s on your mind even if it’s not all connected!Thinking-Out-Loud

  1. I go back to Canada in two weeks and it’s a really bittersweet thing to think about. On one hand, I’m excited to see my friends and family, to be able to understand people, and to have some of my favourite foods again. However, it sucks because I have to say goodbye to the best boyfriend in the world and his great parents that have made me feel welcome here.
  2. This Christmas, I’m going to be doing homemade gifts for my friends and family! I’m really looking forward to baking and making different things. I’ve been all over Pinterest looking for different things to make. Here are some of the ideas I have so far:tolt19Mint Chocolate Bark with Pretzels | Hot Chocolate Spoons | Muddy Buddies | Peppermint Sugar Scrub
  3. I’ve been having a tough time since the terrible events that happened in Paris last Friday. I’m getting better, but I felt very anxious and had a hard time sleeping. Due to this, I decided that I didn’t want to go to London this weekend anymore. We’re losing quite a bit of money by not going, but I know I’d be worrying the entire time we were there. I’m sad that we aren’t going because London has always been on the top of my “Travel List”, but like Matthias’ mom said, London isn’t running away. I’ll make it there someday!
  4. I mentioned yesterday that Matthias and I made peanut butter balls on Tuesday. Ever since making them, I just want to keep making them, but altering what I put in them. For example, putting skor on top, trying to make them healthier. Maybe they’ll be something I make for some Christmas presents too!12244029_10156899308790377_1154007861_n
  5. I haven’t worked out in probably three weeks and I’m only a little made about it. I haven’t really been motivated to workout so I just didn’t. On one hand, I am starting to get that itch to get back into it, but on the other hand, it’s been nice to take some time off.
  6. I’ve quite enjoyed typing my thoughts out without having to worry about it making sense. Maybe I’ll do this whole TOLT more often!
