Last Weekend in Germany

Good Morning! Did you do anything fun this weekend? Did you score any Black Friday/Weekend deals?

I spent a lot of my weekend looking at the online deals, but didn’t end up buying anything. When it comes to clothes or shoes, I’d much rather buy them in a store where I can try them on and see how they look. Last year, I bought a dress online, but it didn’t fit and I had to pay to return it in the mail. Ever since then, I don’t like ordering stuff online unless there’s free returns!

Anyways, today I thought I would share what I did this weekend. I’ll be linking up with Katie for Marvelous in my Monday and Erin for Weekend Snapshots!

I woke up Friday ready to work out! I made myself a nice leg circuit that has had me sore for the past two days! It has been really great having my motivation to work out back.

Matthias and I did our weekly grocery run later in the afternoon before heading to a Christmas Market. Our time there started out fine, but within a half hour, I was finding it hard to be there. I’ve briefly mentioned that I’ve been having problems being in place where there are a lot of people or even just being out of the house. My brain starts playing worst case scenarios and I start to feel sick. As a result, we ended up leaving before we thought we would. I have to thank Matthias for being understandable with all of this. That being said, I hate that I’m letting this control me. I’m hopefully going to be able to see someone about it when I go home because I don’t want to live this way.

Luckily, the weekend got better. We headed downstairs to make brunch Saturday to see that Matthias’ mom left some buns for us to have for breakfast. In the time I’ve been in Germany, I haven’t had a proper German breakfast. This all changed on Saturday! Matthias laid the table with different kinds of meat, cheese, cream cheese, and sweeter options like peanut butter and jam. 12319763_10156932291405377_190820736_nIt was really good! I don’t think I could eat it everyday, but it was a nice change to what I usually have.

Matthias’ mom had also decorated for the holidays this weekend. She does an advent calendar for Matthias and his dad every year so those were set up as well. I wasn’t expecting her to do it for me too! I leave on the 3rd so she has done the first few days for me! I was very surprised and am very thankful!12319332_10156932301080377_1392372327_nWe spent the afternoon relaxing which is what I like best. After the soccer game, Matthias and I got to work on our pizza dough. We used the same recipe as last time and it worked even better this time around! After our pizzas were done, we brought them upstairs and ate them while watching the fifth Star Wars movie!

There’s something about sleeping in on a Sunday morning that makes me feel very happy. After lying in bed for awhile, we got up and showered. Afterwards, I got to work on making brunch. I was craving pancakes and bacon so that’s what I made. The pancakes were protein pancakes and turned out a little too dry, but you always run that risk depending on the protein you use.

We watched another soccer game in the afternoon on Sunday before starting on supper. Matthias came up with a chicken marinade so we baked the chicken and had it with broccoli and leftover garlic fingers. We also watched the last Star Wars movie. I’m officially caught up on all of them. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them. I always thought I wouldn’t like them, but I really did! I’m looking forward to the new one when it comes out!

That was my weekend in a nutshell! I don’t usually post on Tuesdays, but pop back tomorrow when I share my recipe for these Dark Chocolate Oatmeal cookies that I made last week!12277108_10156925467280377_2017013093_nHave a good Monday!

Weekly Meal Plan 11/29

Good Afternoon! How is your weekend going?

I’m popping in quickly to share our meals from the week! Let’s get to it

Weekly Meal Plan: Week of 11/22-11/28

Sunday: We were away last Sunday and went to a restaurant for supper. I had a Hawaiian pizza that was pretty tasty. I didn’t snap a picture, but I’m sure you’ve all seen what a Hawaiian pizza looks like.

Monday: Funny story about Monday night. We made a ham and cheese pasta casserole, but I just couldn’t stomach it. I think I ended up just having cereal. The last time we made the casserole I thought it was good, but for whatever reason I couldn’t eat it this time.12308881_10156929366875377_818079857_nTuesday: Matthias had leftover casserole while I ate chicken, broccoli, and sweet potato. I love simple meals like this!12278291_10156918005135377_565500246_nWednesday: I had leftover chicken and sweet potatoes. I ate it right out of my tupperware haha.12305493_10156929366905377_1488989829_nThursday: I was loving the simple meals this week! I had chicken again on Thursday with broccoli. 12319774_10156929366920377_206809049_nFriday: We went to a Christmas Market on Friday around suppertime, but I wasn’t hungry. I only ended up eating around 9 when I had some cereal. Side note: this is what Special K looks like in Germany, I was so surprise when I saw it!12312423_10156929366940377_92398979_nSaturday: Last night we decided to make homemade pizzas and watch Star Wars. We’ve been watching them since I hadn’t seen them before. We only have one more left to watch! I’m surprised by how much I enjoy them. Anyways, we made garlic fingers and then individual pizzas. I had ham, pineapple, red pepper, bacon, and cheese on mine!12305391_10156931635185377_1980004856_n11301361_10156931635210377_1193387645_nThose were our meals from the week! I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend! I’ll be back tomorrow with a little recap of my weekend!

Do you ever get tired of eating the same thing every night? I personally don’t, as you can tell by the three nights I had chicken this week.

Have you ever made something and then couldn’t eat it? The casserole this week is I think the only time I’ve had this happen.

Friday Favourites #33: Week of 11/27

Hello there! Who’s ready for the weekend? I’m looking forward to checking out the online deals over the next few days!

Since it’s Friday, I wanted to share some of the things I’ve been loving this week. Thanks for the linkup Heather!

Friday Favourites #33: Week of 11/27FF Banner Fall
(side note: I just realized that next week it will be December! I’ll have to work on a new #FF banner that’s more wintery ⛄)

  • Emojis: Amanda mentioned this in her TOLT yesterday and I am so happy she did! I can now add emojis to my posts if I want! 🙊🙈 If you want to know how to get them too, click here!
  • Working Out: I mentioned yesterday that I had my first workout in almost a month. It felt really good to pick up some weights again. I continued with the trend and did a quick leg workout this morning! I’m happy I took the time off because I wasn’t feeling motivated before. Now, although it’s tougher, I feel a lot more into it!
  • Baking: I don’t know if it’s the holiday season or just because I haven’t done that much baking lately, I’ve been itching to do some. I ended up creating a new recipe last night for the cookies pictured below. They aren’t as sweet as most cookies, but I really enjoy them. Matthias even said they tasted alright which is a plus!12277108_10156925467280377_2017013093_n I’m still trying to decide if I’ll share the recipe since I don’t have the best pictures. Let me know if you’re interested in a recipe for them!
  • Daim ice cream: I shared this in my WIAW and it is so tasty! Caramel ice cream with Daim pieces and caramel sauce, sign me up! I managed to make the pint last two days which surprised me! I’ve seen online that there is Skor and Heath ice cream too so if you see it, I highly recommend it. I can only imagine that it tastes at least similar to the Daim one!12278014_10156918005045377_1758710881_n
  • Blogging more: I’ve increased my posting to five days a week the past couple of weeks and I have really been enjoying it! In the future, I would like to better plan my posts, but I am loving writing these!

Those are my favourites from the week! I hope everyone has a great weekend!

thinking out loud #4

Good Morning! How is everyone doing today?

I wrote my third TOLT post last week and now I think I may post them every week! It’s nice to have a place to write anything and everything that’s on your mind without it having to make any sense! A big thank you to Amanda for giving us a place to do this!Thinking-Out-Loud

  1. Happy Thanksgiving to any US readers! Since I celebrate this day in October, I use this day to preview the deals that are about to start in stores and online. I hope everyone has a great day spending time with people that are close to you.
  2. I worked out today for the first time in about a month. Yes, you read that right, it’s been at least a month since I’ve picked up a weight. I didn’t intend to take that long of a break, but I think it was needed. When I did an arm workout this morning, I had a drive back that I hadn’t felt in a long time! I’m looking forward to getting a few more in before I head back to Canada.
  3. Speaking of Canada, a week from now I’ll be on my way home. I have so many different feelings about it – sadness, anxiousness, happiness, nervousness. It’s a lot to feel all at one time. I’m looking forward to seeing my friends and family, but it really sucks because I’m saying goodbye to my best friend. The reality is that we won’t see each other for at least 6 months and I hate it! I have faith that it’ll work out, but it’s still tough to go from seeing each other everyday to only being able to communicate through texts and facetime/skype.IMG_2714
  4. I think I’m going to make cookies today. At least I want to. I have some things I’m trying to use up before I leave. I’ll be throwing some things in a bowl and hoping for the best. That’s how my recipes come together so we’ll see if I get a new one out of it! I’ll be sure to share it if I do!
  5. When I came to Germany, my luggage was overweight and I had to pay twice for it. I’m really hoping that doesn’t happen this time. Realistically, I could just send some of my stuff if it is overweight, but I like having all of my stuff with me, ya know? I didn’t accumulate that much stuff since being here so I’m going to try my best to have it underweight!

Those are my thoughts going through my mind today. I hope you have a great day!

What’s your favourite Thanksgiving side dish?

Any tips for keeping your luggage underweight?

WIAW #49

Good Morning! How is your week going?

I can’t believe it’s already Wednesday! My days have been off since we came back from our weekend getaway on Monday. I could have sworn Monday was Sunday and Tuesday was Monday.

Anyways, since it’s Wednesday, it’s time for another look at my meals from yesterday! If you aren’t sure what WIAW is all about, you can check out Jenn’s page explaining it all! A big thank you to her for creating this link up and to Arman for hosting this week!

Let’s get to the food!

What I Ate Wednesday Tuesday

Lunch: I had an egg white/egg scramble with ham and red pepper with two rice cakes on the side. They were topped with peanut butter, chia seeds, and Rote Grütze (basically a jam made of all the red berries)12309424_10156918005280377_1037250938_nSnacks: Throughout the afternoon I had a peanut butter ball, way too many Toffifee and a piece of cake Matthias’ mom brought up to me

Supper: I was craving some real food after the junk I ate in the afternoon so I made chicken, sweet potato, and broccoli.12278291_10156918005135377_565500246_nNighttime Snack: I don’t about any other ladies reading, but when it’s that special time of the month, all I want are sweets! I satisfied my craving with some Daim ice cream I picked up. Caramel ice cream with Daim (Heath or Skor depending where in the world you live) pieces and caramel sauce!

Those were my eats from yesterday! I hope you have a great day!

Do you find after eating sweets that you crave vegetables and meat?

What’s your favourite thing to put in eggs?

Weekend Getaway

Hey guys! How was your weekend? Did you have time to relax or was it nonstop?

I’d just like to apologize for coming to you a little later than usual. Matthias and I were away until today and I had forgotten to plan another post. Since we ended up cancelling our trip to London, Matthias’ dad very kindly suggested we go somewhere else. I am very grateful for his generosity and I would love to share with you what we did.

I’ll be linking up with Katie for Marvelous in my Monday and Erin for Weekend Snapshots!

We headed out for our road trip on Friday afternoon. Matthias’ dad was kind enough to treat us for the weekend! We were headed for Husum, which is a town in North Germany by the North Sea. We arrived a couple hours later, checked into our hotel, then after dropping our bags in our room, we headed out to explore.

We walked by the Schloss vor Husum which was built in 1582 and was where the dukes of Holstein-Gottorp lived.12270172_10156914333300377_86183585_nWe also walked down the cutest little lane with shops. I love walking around places this time of the year because Christmas decorations are starting to be put up!12283241_10156914333390377_1007973058_nOnce we were in the main shopping area, it started to rain. Although, wet from the rain, I really enjoyed seeing the different stores and decorations! At one point it was raining pretty hard so we decided to head into a bakery for something warm and a little treat. I had green tea and a piece of apple cake. 12272761_10156914333405377_1064112840_nAfter waiting out the rain for about a half hour, we decided to head back to the hotel and dry off for a few hours before supper. We went to an Italian restaurant for supper. I went with a Hawaiian pizza that was pretty good. It was too much for me to eat so I happily took about half of it back to the hotel.

We woke up Saturday ready to explore some more. After an amazing breakfast (one of the best hotel breakfasts I’ve had) we planned out our day. First, we headed to Friedrichstadt. This town is known for it’s resemblance to Holland. Matthias and I both agreed that we should come back to this town in the summer. For a Saturday, there weren’t many shops or people around. I think it had to do with what time of the year it is. 12283072_10156914333445377_1590829285_n12277088_10156914333480377_1598362975_n12270013_10156914333485377_1868627022_nAfter spending about a half hour walking around, we headed for another town. I don’t remember the name of it, but we walked around for quite some time.12272788_10156914333500377_1140712245_nWe popped into a cafe in the late afternoon to warm up. We both got apple cake and hot chocolate! On a side note, I’ve decided wherever I go, I have to either try apple cake or Hawaiian pizza.12270015_10156914333510377_989167228_nWe woke up Sunday to snow!12285590_10156914333540377_1184866776_nI wish I would have taken another picture when we actually went outside, but we actually had to clean the car off. It made me feel like I was back in Canada a little bit.

Anyways, we braved the cold to try and get to the North Sea. We weren’t very successful though. Again, I think it’s because of the time of year that we went, but it was still fun to explore what we could!

All in all, it was a great weekend spent with my favourite person!

Weekly Meal Plan 11/22

Good Morning! How is your weekend going?

Matthias and I have been enjoying a nice little weekend away, but I wanted to pop in quickly to share what we ate this past week.

Weekly Meal Plan: Week of 11/15-11/21

Sunday: after having such a big lunch with Matthias and his family, I wasn’t really hungry for supper. When I did get hungry in the evening, I ended up having some cereal and a rice cake with cream cheese and ham.12277213_10156909137945377_229491154_nMonday: Matthias was away Monday evening so I kept it simple with turkey breast and veggies.12285717_10156909138215377_2057318914_nTuesday: again I kept things pretty simple with some leftover turkey breast and broccoli.12277328_10156899308795377_184280787_nWednesday: Matthias and I made quesadillas! These came together super fast and were equally tasty. They have salsa, red pepper, chicken, and cheese in them. We dipped them in more salsa, greek yogurt, and guac!12272834_10156909139190377_1680294176_nThursday: I wanted to use up the last tortilla so I made another quesadilla.12278121_10156909140485377_39257082_n

Friday/Saturday: we were away, but Friday I ordered a Hawaiian pizza at the Italian restaurant we went to and Saturday we just got Subway.

Those were our meals from this past week! Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I’ll be back later tomorrow with a little recap post from this weekend!

What do you get on your sub at Subway?

What do you like to dip your quesadilla in?
