Friday Favourites #2: Week of 6/27

Happy Friday! I hope everyone is having a great day and that you’re looking forward to the weekend. I know I am. After the dreary weather the past few days, I am excited to see sun and heat in the forecast. I have tomorrow and Monday off and it’s suppose to be nice so I’ll hopefully make it to the beach. I just recently shared some of my recent eats on Wednesday that I have been loving and thought I would share some of my other favourites.

Friday Favorites Button Housewife Glamour

New Workout Clothes

A fitness store nearby is having their annual tent sale so I stopped by after work and found a couple things. All of the clothing had an additional 25% of the lowest mark down. I was able to get all three of these for $110! The jacket alone was originally $130!

I think the jacket will be nice in the fall when the weather is cooler. I’m not sure how much use the leggings will get, but I loved the colour!

Pinterest

I go through phases with Pinterest and I am definitely back on the train. I have been searching for new recipes to try. So far I’d like to try:

  • cauliflower pizza crust
  • zucchini pizza crust (like cauliflower, but zucchini)
  • sweet potato shepherd’s pie
  • banana oatmeal breakfast muffins
  • chocolate fudge sundae iced coffee (sounds delicious)

Big Brother

I mentioned this on Wednesday’s post, but I am so excited for this season! I just want it to be Sunday so the other 8 houseguests get there. I’m wondering if anyone will recognize Frankie. It will be interesting to see for sure. How fun would a blog pool be? If anyone is interested, let me know! Also, Julie Chen is one of my favourite hosts, she is gorgeous and hilarious!

The past couple weeks, there has been a handful of hot, sunny days. I’m excited for the heat coming this weekend and sun. I’m off Saturday and it’s suppose to be so nice! I think I’m going to try getting in a morning run, go to the market and then hit up the beach!

WIAW #16: Recent Eats

Hey Guys! So I feel like a little bit of a broken record, but I really want to get back on track with these posts. I thought for today’s post I would share some of my recent favourites. As always, a big thank you to Jenn for hosting this weekly link up!

Peas and Crayons

Sweet Potato Nachos

I baked some sweet potato rounds and topped them with ground turkey, yellow pepper, and a runny egg. This is one of the most filling breakfast foods that I have had!

Flatbread Pizza

I bought a package of the Flatout Flatbread. I made some with ground turkey and a couple BBQ chicken. These were ok and helped with my pizza cravings, but they were nothing special.

Oatmeal

I haven’t been big on oats, but I have loved a bowl every now and then. Another filling breakfast. I usually top it with some kind of nut butter and fruit. I like adding chia seeds and ground flax seeds.

Mug Cake

I made my first mug cake in about a year and it was so good! I made a chocolate one and topped it with coconut and some melted dark chocolate. The inside wasn’t completely set so it was more like a lava cake.

There’s a little look at some of my recent eats. On a side note, is anyone into Big Brother? I’m watching it as I type this post up and I am so excited that it is back on. For me, Big Brother means that summer is here. I’m still not sure who I want to root for. The twists should be interesting!

WIAW #15

Good Morning! I hope everyone is having a good week so far! This morning I got up and finally made a trip to the gym. Since getting my sunburn on Sunday, I can hardly lift my arms above shoulder height without pain. When my alarm went off at 6 this morning I was done with excuses and got ready for the gym.

After work yesterday, I went onto my Bloglovin and realized I had quite a few posts to catch up on (61 to be exact).

I guess I haven’t gotten back into the routine of work yet. I’m not sure how I did it last summer, but I’ll get back on track soon. Speaking of being back to work, I am so happy to be working. I love where I work so much and can’t wait until orientation day on Saturday for the new staff and opening day on Monday!

Longer intro than usual, but here we go with a look at some of my eats. As always, I want to thank Jenn for this awesome link-up that lets us creep people’s food for inspiration or those that are just curious.

What I Ate Wednesday Sunday

Breaky: two eggs over-easy, toast, and some peppers

While we were playing volleyball, I lost track of time and didn’t really eat lunch so I had a Quest bar as my lunch.

After volleyball, we made a stop to get slushies. While at the convenience store, I decided to get a milkshake instead. You pick what flavour you want and the consistency, then the machine does all the work! I had never seen anything like it before, I was so amazed!

For supper, I made some chicken and sweet potatoes on the bbq. I was so hungry that I forgot to snap a picture before I inhaled it!

Snacks: watermelon and an Oreo

Time for a Change

Good Morning! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I wasn’t going to do a MIMM post today because I failed to take pictures this weekend. However, I did want to talk about a couple things I did and something I want to change. A big thanks to Katie for creating this wonderful link up.

I played beach volleyball for three hours on Sunday! Let me tell you that I am all kinds of sore today, but it was so worth it! I kind of forgot to put on sunscreen so I’m pretty burnt now. Besides that, it was so much fun! I hadn’t played in a long time so it felt great to be back out!

While at the beach, I snacked on a Quest bar. It was a chocolate chip cookie dough one and because it was warm out, it kind of turned into a gooey, not really cooked, but totally delicious cookie (did that make sense?)

This weekend also marked the end of my sister’s trip home. She headed back to Toronto Sunday night. It was great having her home for a couple weeks! I’m hoping to go and visit in the fall since I haven’t been since I was really little. Hearing all of her stories makes me wish I lived in a bigger town where there was more to do.

As for the title of this post, I am looking to change the way I eat. I mentioned this a few posts back that I wasn’t really eating the best. I didn’t think it was getting that bad until I tried on my work shorts again today. I only bought them a month ago, but they are a little too tight for my liking. I’ve been trying to think of ways to eat better and curb my snacking.

I think the number one way I am going to do this, is to meal plan and prep. I’ve been doing a little each week, but not nearly enough. Also, I need to make sure I am eating enough so that I don’t get super hangry at night and eat all of the junk. My dad likes to buy Oreo’s, donuts, and other sweets so I know it is going to be very tempting. I might start documenting more of my meals in hopes that it will keep me on track.

Coffee Talk

Good Morning! I have a lot to talk about today so I thought I would just do a coffee talk. Although, if we were actually out for coffee, I would be having a green tea or smoothie (not really a fan of coffee).

First off, sorry for going m.i.a. for a week! Last week was my sister’s graduation so I was busy celebrating with family. She is also moving to Toronto so I have been trying to hang out with her as much as possible and have been doing some work at her house so my mom can sell. I am so proud of her and can’t wait to see what she does in life.

This past weekend I had a first aid course for work. I had taken one before, but this instructor was amazing! I actually feel prepared if I ever have to use it. We did so much hands on stuff which is how I learn best.

Also this past weekend was House Crawl 2014! We started doing this last year and everyone loved it. Last year’s house crawl was for two of my friends’ birthday, my birthday and a going away party for another friend. This year was also for the three birthdays and a going away party for another friend. My friend Zoe left for Italy yesterday! It’s going to be a weird summer without her here, but I know she is going to have a blast! House Crawl works like a Pub Crawl except instead of bars, four of my friends host a party for different times. It is always so much fun getting together with everyone!

On the workout front, I haven’t been doing much unfortunately. I went to gym last Monday, for a run on Friday, and was at the gym yesterday morning. I did have volleyball two nights last week, but I don’t know if I would count those. At the beginning of my run I was feeling really good, I was keeping pace which is usually really hard for me. However, after I turned around my knee was giving me some problems. I went a little bit slower on the way back, but still a really good run.

The past 16 hours have been incredibly tough. One of the communities close by is experiencing what can only be called as a nightmare. There is a shooter that has been running and hiding all night. There have already been three shot dead. Coming from a small community, I can’t even comprehend the pain this man has caused. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families that have been affected. I can only hope that this ends soon without any more lives gone.
