Happy Hump Day! Today is finally the day I get to head back to university! I have been counting down the days and it is here! I love being home and seeing my friends, but I love being at school.

What I Ate Wednesday Saturday

Breaky: a whole wheat waffle with bananas, strawberries, raspberries, granola, and honey and a green smoothie from the marketIMG-20130824-00192

Break: chicken, carrots, grape tomatoes, and strawberry Greek yogurtIMG-20130825-00200

Snacks: thin bagel with egg whites and cheese, crustless pumpkin pie with Greek yogurt topping, mug of corn bran cereal with unsweetened vanilla almond milkIMG-20130824-00196

Hope everyone has a great day! I’m not sure how posting will go for the first week or so I’m at school. I have training for orientation week and then I have orientation week, but bear with me 🙂

Packing Sucks!

Good morning everyone! This morning I was up early to get one last workout in before heading back to university tomorrow! I’m still undecided if I’ll get up tomorrow and do something before heading back. I know I should, but everything will be packed by then and it will be nice to sleep in a little bit.

Last night I bit the bullet and packed a few things, two boxes to be exact. DSCF1589

Packing is my least favourite thing in the world! I would rather do suicides or work twelve hours straight. I’m waiting until after work and my staff party to do the rest. I did the same thing last year and it only took me two hours to do everything. I know I’ll be too excited to sleep anyway so I may as well wait.

Before heading into work this morning I’m making a couple of stops to pick up some last minute items: some kind of organizer for my desk and garbage bags for my clothes. Anything else I missed I’ll pick up when I’m there. I’m also planning on making some muffins tonight. I have some leftover bananas, blueberries, chia seeds, almond milk, and ground flaxseed I want to use up.

Workout: I did my last leg workout of the summer this morning. It was hard, but totally worth it.

Breakfast: I just finished a pumpkin smoothie bowl, it tasted delicious. I’ll probably have a couple waffle before heading to work too.

Good Morning! Sorry I’ve been MIA the past few days I’ve been working and soaking up the last of my summer!

Marvelous is…

Having Marcus here on Thursday night before he headed back to school. He was here for about twelve hours, but that was enough time to beat him at mini golf and get some fro yo. I head back to school in two days so it will be great to see him everyday for awhile.

Marvelous is…

Working my last shift tomorrow. It’s been a great summer and I know I’ll miss my friends at work, but I cannot wait to get back to university!

Marvelous is…

FRIES AND FROSTY! I had been craving it for a solid three days so last night I treated myself and got some 🙂

Marvelous is…

Starting my week off with a great shoulders and ab workout before an awesome run! I’m on orientation committee for the first years so I won’t have much time the first week I’m at school. I want to try and get in a couple solid workouts before I leave.

Marvelous is…

Mornings that feel like fall. I love how crisp and fresh the cool mornings are!

Marvelous is…

Pumpkin protein pancakes! I bought a can of pure pumpkin last week to make crustless pumpkin pies and have been using the leftovers in pancakes. They taste awesome and I am sad that I won’t be able to have them for awhile. I feel like meal hall won’t be able to recreate them.

Sorry for the lack of pictures and a not too exciting of a post, but I’ll be back tomorrow! Have a great Monday!

Good Morning and Happy Hump Day! In case you weren’t aware Wednesdays are one of my favourite days of the week. If you were wondering why, the title of this post sums it up. I love sharing what I ate and reading what others are eating. When you’re through here feel free to stop over to Jenn’s blog to read even more daily eats.

What I Ate Wednesday Tuesday

Pre-run: a banana as per usual DSCF1567

Breaky: smoothie made with strawberries, peaches, mangoes, blueberries, spinach, chocolate protein powder, almond milk, and waterDSCF1570

Lunch: spinach salad with grape tomatoes, chicken, cheese, and balsamic vinaigretteDSCF1573

Supper: turkey sausage, cheese, carrots, eggs, and two pieces of toastDSCF1585

Snacks: peach, corn bran cereal, special k bar, crustless pumpkin pie, and garlic breadDSCF1575DSCF1576DSCF1580DSCF1584

I got the recipe for the crustless pumpkin pie from Taralynn @ The Undressed Skeleton. I would like to try this recipe again because I think I overcooked them a little bit. They are still delicious nonetheless!

Have a great day!

Sunday Funday!

Hello Everyone! I though I would share what I did on Sunday with you all.

Following my sister and I’s run, we got ready and headed out to our cottage for the day. As soon as we got there we headed down to the beach as most of our cousin’s were already down there.IMG-20130818-00169

After a couple hours we headed up for a late lunch of sausages! Not the healthiest, but one of my favourite things to bbq. We hung out all afternoon talking, playing washer toss, and eating. IMG-20130818-00170

My aunt and uncle brought their bikes up so my sister and I enjoyed a nice little bike ride. I haven’t been on a bike in probably ten years! It was a little slow going at the beginning, but such a fun thing to do before supper!IMG_2443

Please ignore the beautiful zit on my chin, my face has been acting crazy the past few days. I’m guessing because of all the junk I’ve been eating! When we got back our stomachs were growling and supper was just about ready.IMG-20130818-00171

I had two sloppy joes, salad, pasta salad, coleslaw and then went back for seconds. That included half a chicken sandwich, cheese, crackers, and some veggies. Dessert was marble cake and ice cream. After a long day in the sun we sat around a bon fire talking waiting for it to be dark enough for fireworks! IMG-20130818-00175

I couldn’t have asked for a better day with my family. As the summer is winding down it was nice to have a day of relaxation!

Good Morning! A big thanks to Katie @ Healthy Diva Eats for starting this wonderful weekly posting party! Marvelous in my Monday is a look at anything marvelous that has happened in your life. Perhaps it was over the weekend or a recipe that was rather tasty, either way it is a way to have a positive, fun, and beautiful start to the week!

Marvelous is…

A welcome home party for one of my good friends (she was away all summer working at a summer camp.) I tried a Smirnoff Ice Watermelon and my usual Raspberry Vodka with Crystal Light and water.

Marvelous is…

Making muffins on Saturday morning. I just tossed in oats, applesauce, banana, ground flaxseed, chia seeds, baking powder, and topped them with some blueberries. They were really good!DSCF1559

Marvelous is…

A great Sunday morning run with my sister!DSCF1566

I hope everyone has a great Monday! I’ll be back tomorrow with a post about what I did on Sunday!

Liebster Award

Good Morning!

Earlier this week I found out I was nominated for the Liebster Award by Maggie @ Sunnyside Up Smile! I was shocked when she commented on a post to let me know. I know it isn’t even that big of an award, but when I first started this blog back in April or May I didn’t think anyone was going to read it. I really appreciate that you thought of me Maggie!

Maggie always writes great posts! She has great recipes and posts I can relate to. Plus she takes awesome pictures to go along with her posts. They make me want to go through my screen and have a bite (because that’s totally possible.) Anyway, I just want to say thank you again for thinking of me, it means so much to me!

For those that don’t know what the Liebster Award is, it recognizes blogs that have less than two hundred followers. Once nominated, the blogger fills out a fun survey before passing this award onto eleven more blogs they think should be acknowledged.

After receiving the nomination, the blogger must:

1. Acknowledge the nominating blogger;
2. Share 11 random facts about yourself;
3. Answer 11 questions the nominating blogger has created for you;
4. List 11 bloggers who have less than 200 followers (as best as you can tell based on the info provided!). They should be bloggers that you believe deserve some recognition and a little blogging love!
5. Post 11 questions for the bloggers that you nominated to answer; and
6. Let all of the bloggers know that they’ve been nominated.  You cannot nominate the blogger that nominated you.

11 Random Facts About Me:

1. I have lived in the same town my whole life (20 years), with the exception of eight months of the year when I am at university.
2. I love buying new workout clothes.
3. Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day, I love pancakes, waffles, overnight oats, muffins, eggs, anything breakfast!
4. I’m always worried I’ll stop liking the program I am in or that I won’t like my career or that it isn’t right for me.
5. I love testing out and thinking of new recipes, I made some great muffins this morning by mixing a bunch of ingredients together (I may try them again and post a recipe later.)
6. If I could live off of smoothies I would! And the thicker the better, nothing beats eating a smoothie with a spoon.
7. I think the reason why I have loved school so much is that I am involved. Ever since I can remember, I have done clubs, sports, and committees. I like knowing what I am doing is making a difference.
8. I really want to get a tattoo in remembrance of my grandfather.
9. I worry a lot. Mostly about money and my future, but also about really random things that I probably shouldn’t be worrying about.
10. Although I may not always be smiling, I am the happiest I have been in my life and I owe it all to my family, friends, boyfriend, and working out.
11. I wish I had a better camera for taking pictures for posts, but I probably won’t get one for awhile if ever.

11 Questions From Maggie:

1. If you worked in a typical school cafeteria, how would you “healthify” the menu?

I would try to cut out as much salt as possible to start! Eating meal hall food has made me so much more aware of the salt in my food because they use so much. I would also try to switch all dough to whole wheat or multigrain, add more veggies to things like pizza or sandwiches, and offer healthier dessert options!

2. What is your guilty pleasure?

Fro yo! I could eat it everyday and not get sick of it.

3. If you could pack a suitcase to anywhere right now, what would you pack and where would you go?

Honestly, anywhere outside of Canada, the farthest place I have travelled is a 16-hour car ride away to Toronto and I’ve never left North America. After seeing Tina’s posts about her Crossfit vacation in Cabo I would love to go there. I would pack my bathing suit, workout clothes, and some cute dresses. I would also really like to go to NYC. If I went there I would still pack workout clothes, some cute dresses, and a couple pair of shorts and t-shirts.

4. Have you ever lived in another country? Where and for how long?

I have not!

5. What’s your least favourite household chore?

Cleaning the bathroom! I with I could have a maid just to clean my bathroom.

6. What are your 5 must-have foods?

Bananas, oats, carrots, watemelon, and chicken

7. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?

I wish I was more outgoing, I’m really shy and nervous when meeting new people.

8. If you could go back to any age and relive it, which age would you choose and why?

I love being 20, but I miss being young and not having to worry about my future or money. Also, being younger would mean I could spend more time with some of my family that has passed away.

9. Who’s your favourite Disney princess?

Belle! I always wished I could wear her yellow dress and sing with household objects haha.

10. If you were forced to survive on a desert island, who would you bring with you and why?

I would probably say my boyfriend. He’s really resourceful and he never fails to make me laugh. I feel like we would be able to survive with each other’s strengths.

11. What is one of your biggest regrets?

Taking my time with my grandfather for granted. I always thought he was going to be around for a long time, but he had a stroke and passed away almost five years ago when I was in grade ten.
